Roman Flugel @XLR8R Mix, Plays #MIN10 this Week

This Thursday we have some very special guests for Make it New (#MIN10). The well travelled and diverse Roman Flugel will be joining us along with South London Ordnance. The German producer has dabbled in house, techno, electro, ambient, IDM, and more over the course of his career, working both as a solo artist (using his own name and a host of aliases) and along with others in a number of collaborative projects. Roman has also lent a hand in running Frankfurt labels that include Playhouse, Klang Elektronik, and Ongaku Musik.

Listen to Roman’s mix he made for xlr8r for a groovy, spaced out preview of the jams that are to come. Transitioning between dreamy swirling landscapes and more funky disco flair, Roman Flugel will transport you to a place where time stops and dancing reigns supreme.

You too can be in this magical world by coming to Make it New this Thursday at 9 at Middlesex Lounge on Mass ave in Cambridge. Check the Facebook page for more information.

3 Reasons Not to Miss #MakeItNew with South London Ordnance

south london ordinance

1. He’s a mystery man

There’s truly no “I” in this Ordinance. South London Ordnance’s real name and true identity remain unclear, even after a few years in the spotlight with high-profile features from Vice and XLR8R. If Burial has taught us anything, it’s that anonymity breeds intrigue, and typically some pretty great tunes. Who doesn’t like a bit of mystique surrounding their producers?

2. He’s got raw, bass-heavy productions

When the artist’s identity is concealed, the music has to speak for itself, and South London Ordnance’s original productions do that loud and clear. Through a series of 12″s and EPs over the past few years, he’s been highly acclaimed for his “unique strain of bass-focused house and techno.” His music has also been released via prestigious labels like Audio Culture and Warp.

3. He’s already a seasoned performer

Though only in his early 20s, South London Ordnance has already toured both the US and Europe, and spent an entire summer spinning in Ibiza. Impressive credentials for a young DJ on the rise. Don’t miss a chance to catch him right here in Cambridge when you can.
