It may come to a surprise but some actors and actresses love music just like the rest of us! Some of them have even put their talents to creating Electronic Dance Music. So here are a few of them!
Idris Elba – The British-born actor, most known for his roles as “Stringer” Bell in HBO’s The Wire, detective John Luther in Luther, Nelson Mandela in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, and Heimdall in Marvel’s Thor and Avengers series. He DJs under the alias Big Driis. He also had a show Thursday in Sydney, AUS @ Good Bar that was free!
Liam Payne– Don’t let this boybander fool you! He has begun to earn his spot in the high ranking EDM DJ world. With not only remixing his own boy band One Direction’s tune ‘You and I’ and his team up with AFTERHRS ‘Drag Me Down’, Big Payno/DJ Payno has also done remixes for now girlfriend Cheryl Cole and a collab with Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J. And is in the studio with Juicy J for his own solo record.
Elijah Wood – besides making a trek across middle earth as Frodo Baggins he has make his trek into the EDM scene. He partnered up with friend Zach Wood, to create DJ Wooden Wisdom. Their soundcloud has no tracks listed, but they do have almost 4,000 followers!
Danny Masterson – The hilarious and gnarly actor known for his role as Hyde on That 70’s Show, found his place on the dancefloor, going by the aliases DJ Mom Jeans and DJ Donkey Punch (which are quiet epic names). He’s even spun for events like HARD and Lollapalooza.
Chris Masterson – who stared as Francis on ‘Malcom in the Middle’, who got into DJing because of his older brother (Danny listed above). He goes by DJ Chris Kennedy. He like his brother has had the opportunity to DJ at Lollapalooza!!!
Kristian Nairn – most known for his roll as Hodor (RIP) in Game of Thrones. A huge house music fan and DJ. He even had a tour in 2015 called ‘Rave of Thrones’. You can check out his SoundCloud below!
Ruby Rose – now she maybe known as the gorgeous androgynous m0del that took the internet by storm or for her role on Orange Is the New Black, but she started off as a VJ on MTV AUS and then went on to star in a few movies, she’s even in the upcoming installment of the XXX movie ‘Return of Xander Cage’ and the final installment of Resident Evil.
Michelle Rodriguez -besides being a very accomplished actress, known for her tough girl roles as Rain in Resident Evil and Letty in the Fast and Furious franchise. She also built a really great reputation as a talented DJ! From spinning at events such as Cannes Film Festival and at the Grand Prix.
Ansel Elgort – now on his off time in between movie shoots, this 21 year old, who when he is on the turntables goes by Ansolo is signed to Island Records. With headlining spots at Pacha and Electric Zoo. He isn’t headlining too many festivals yet, but it looks like he will soon be joining the ranks as one of the top DJ just like the DJs he idolizes.
