5 Music Production Tips from Kaz James

I think as a producer it’s a never-ending learning curve; every day is a school day

Kaz James is a success story. Signed to Universal Records at the age of 21 and scoring a massive hit as one half of Bodyrockers with single I Like The Way in 2005, Kaz James achieved success from a young age.

In an interview with Music Radar, James highlights 5 tips on how to point yourself in the direction of success, including perhaps scoring films, touring on your own talent, or releasing your own music on labels like Objektivity.

1. You never know enough

“I still really enjoy writing with people who have nothing to do with my world. It’s always the people you never expect that blow your mind, and it’s a great away to keep evolving as an artist, producer or songwriter.”

2. Build your sound and sample library

“Your sample library is incredibly important – that one sound can make the difference between a record hitting or flopping.”

3. ???

Visit MusicRadar.com for the other 3 (spoiler alert — “Be Nice!“)

This is how it goes down every Sunday I'm in there somewhere

B Mo the DJ Gives Our Classes a S/O

Boston Voyager was kind enough to profile one of our most recent graduates: B Mo the DJ.

From his adopted dad playing with Bob Marley to NBC Sports Boston, from AMP 103.3 to FUN 107, Brian was a fantastic radio personality and music enthusiast… and then he heard about us.

In February I didn’t know the first thing about how to DJ. Now, after taking classes at MMMMAVEN in Cambridge, I’ve been doing my DJ thang from Boston to the South Shore and back.

Find his full backstory and much more at Boston Voyager.

It’s all about knowing your audience. Knowing what makes them tick. It’s a relationship. We all want to have a great relationship right? What I do when I DJ is I don’t just want you to come dance. I want to connect with you and feel like we just had a great time together. It’s about setting a vibe and energy with creative mixing and the music you use and when!

Be like Brian! August classes are starting soon. Mon & Wed courses for DJing and Production start on August 6th. Sat & Sun courses start on August 4th. Email me polina@mmmmaven.com
