Unifying for One Fund Boston

Unity Fundraiser-6.14.13-051

Music: saving the world one gig at a time.

Overstatement? Ehh, maybe. But music is undeniably powerful stuff. It brings people together and connects them over wavelengths of sound that are not only heard, but also felt. Music unifies. And when we capture the magic of music in a cause for good, it’s no small thing.

For the past few months the tenth graders of Prospect Hill Academy Charter School have had a crash course in the many layers and levels of event production. Together with Mmmmaven, they planned, promoted and produced an event at Middle East Upstairs to benefit the One Fund Boston. These students come from all over the greater Boston area. When it came time to pick a sophomore spring enrichment project, they quickly decided that they wanted to help the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings. Their mission statement?

Together we stand.
Make music, feel music, be the music.
We Unify.

With David’s guidance these bright and enthusiastic music Mmmmavens planned the event from start to finish, and raised $500 in ticket sales. They recruited the support of local businesses for raffle donations, enlisted talented DJs and performers for the event, and learned first-hand the business end of putting on a show. Team Unify, we applaud you.
